Maar ek het altyd bly wag dat die onderwyser vir my sê HOE . Hoekom het die onderwyser nooit gesê hoe ek soveel woorde in so 'n kort tydjie kon memoriseer nie? Hoekom was dit altyd daarop gefokus om resultate te kry? En nooit die proses om dit te doen nie?
Ek het nooit die antwoord gekry nie. En daarom het ek dit opgegee.
Fast forward about 20 years. I met a wonderful person who is now my wife. The only challenge was the language barrier, as she is Korean.
But of course, I had no choice. I needed to learn the Korean language.

Die probleem wat ek gehad het, was dat ek nie geweet het hoe leer werk nie. Wat maak dat die brein wat ons leer stoor? Oral sê hulle wat om te leer, maar nie hoe en hoekom nie.
En dit was toe ek my groot eureka- oomblik gehad het. Daar moet 'n ander manier wees om tale te leer.
So ek het boeke begin lees. Baie boeke. Boeke oor neurowetenskap , taalleer en leer in die algemeen. Om uit te vind hoe die brein werk. Aangesien breinstudie nog in sy vroeë stadiums is, was dit alles vars uit die drukker.
Ek moes leer wat in ons brein gebeur wanneer ons iets nuuts leer . Ek moes die geheime bestanddeel van leer vind. Om te onthul wat ons keer om te leer.
Intussen het ek aanhou om verskillende nuwe maniere van leer te probeer. Het nuwe bekende programme vir taalleer gevind. Regte taalonderdompeling. Fisiese flitskaarte. Het voortgegaan om taalskool toe te gaan. Dit was 'n paar oukei maniere van leer. Dit "kan" vir jou werk.
Maar hulle was gewoonlik nie gebruikersvriendelik nie en het selde gefokus op wat belangrik was in die brein terwyl hulle leer.

En dit is toe dat ek besef het dat dit my honderde ure en duisende dollars kon bespaar het as dit net bestaan het toe ek begin het. Al die stadige maniere van leer het net my tyd en geld gemors.
